BMW i3 Owners get Paid to Not Charge

If you’re one of 56,000 BMW i3 owners in the greater San Francisco area, you could be paid $1500 worth of gift cards by simply resisting the urge to charge at peak hours. BMW and electric company Pacific Gas & Electric are signing i3 owners up for a program called I ChargeForward. Signing up give BMW and the PG&E the ability to cut off charging at home during peak hours to relieve stress on the Californian grid. San Francisco was chosen because it is the densest EV area anywhere in the world. The program runs until 2017.
