Exciting New Research May Lead to More Effective Wireless Charging

Researchers at Stanford University have developed a technology that can be utilized to wirelessly charge electronic devices without concern over whether the object is stationary or moving. Previous attempts to develop wireless charging technology have led to limitations due to an inability to actively control the change in system settings required to maintain charging. The technology developed by Professor Shanhui Fan and his graduate student Sid Assawaworrarit implemented more recent technology in order to overcome this engineering hurdle. Dr. Fan and his team believe that this technology may one day be applied to wirelessly charge electric vehicles while in motion without the need to stop at charging stations.
