EVs Setting Record Highs in the Market

The electric vehicle market in the US is on the rise with record-breaking sales in the US surpassing itself nearly every month. Sales for the month of July 2014 are in the record books and show another great month for EVs. An estimated 10,533 plug in hybrids where sold in July, compared to 7,892 recorded for July 2013, showing a 34% increase in sales. This month marks the 32nd consecutive month of record-breaking EV sales in the U.S.

EVs are selling fast. Out of the 18 mass produced plug in hybrids, 6 of them have set a new yearly high in the US. The Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt have aided in setting these record being the most popular plug in hybrids sold in America for the month followed by Ford and Toyota. The bigger disappointments seen in July have been with the luxury electric vehicles with only about 363 BMW i3’s sold.

The Ford Focus Electric, smart ED, Cadillac ELR, and the Chevy Volt are among the models that saw all time highs in sales for the month of July.

Electric vehicles are certainly on the rise in the United States, the proof is in the record-breaking sales.
