Volvo recently announced that all new Volvo models from 2019 onwards would be either fully electric or a hybrid. This is the first major automobile maker to abandon the traditional internal combustion engine, with CEO Hakan Samuelsson aiming to sell one million electric and hybrid cars by 2025. Five new volvo vehicles will be launched between 2019 and 2021.
WIth this bold move, Volvo is setting itself as a leader in the shift within the automobile industry to electric vehicles. This shift is inevitable due to increasingly restrictive emission standards and the decreasing cost of EVs. And with Volvo leading the way, it’s likely other makers will follow.
