Do incentives drive EV sales?

Hong Kong, the fashion hub of China, has cut its Electric Vehicle incentive program, causing EV sales to decline dramatically. When authorities cut a tax break in the beginning of April, “Tesla Inc.’s sales in Hong Kong came to a standstill,” proving government subsidies a leading function of EV purchases. Hong Kong officials said they won’t reconsider the incentive program until 2018 so we’ll have to wait and see if there is a direct correlation between the two.
